Note: Samuel enlisted in the Union Forces on 6 Aug 1862 in the War Between the States and was involved in many campaigns. He served as a corporal in Co. H, 85 Ill. Inf. He was mustered out on 21 June 1865. He returned to Fulton County and got married. The family moved west and lived in Kansas for many years. Samuel and Harriet returned to Macomb in December 1902 and they built their residence at 531 West Jackson Street.
