Note:   A schoolteacher. He emigrated with his daughter Margaretha, traveling on the Emigrant from Bremen to New York, arriving 6 September 1852. They continued on to the Saginaw, Michigan area. He served as Lutheran teacher in Proviso (Franzosenbusch), Cook County, Illinois from September 1854 to early 1861. By 1865 he had moved to Houston County, Minnesota. Then sometime between 1875 and 1880 he moved to Everett Precinct, Burt County, Nebraska and lived with his daughter Meta and son-in-law Fred Spannuth.
