Note:   Or Fritz Karl. Fred opened the Spannuth Hotel in Rudyard, Montana in 1910. The hotel was a deluxe metal exterior building housing ten large rooms, a social lobby, and a dining room, which operated on the European plan. The hotel became the social center of Rudyard: square dances were held in the lobby, school and Sunday school classes were held there, Brother Van preached a sermon there one day, and the hotel served as headquarters for Doc D. S. Buisson, the Chester dentist who made professional calls to Rudyard twice a week. Fred opened the first auto livery in Rudyard in 1913, providing delivery of small freight items and passengers from the depot to any point within the city limits. He acquired a 320-acre homestead in Township 32, Range 9, Sections 12 and 13, Hill County, Montana in 1915. He lived in Beaverhead County, Montana in 1920, in King County, Washington in 1930, and farmed in Beavermouth, Granite County, Montana in 1940.
