He acquired a 320-acre homestead in Hill County, Montana in 1921. In 1935 they lived in Melrose Park, Illinois. In 1940 he was a welder in his own business, residing at 400 Arlington Ave., Elmhurst Illinois. He last lived at 140 Marengo Ave., Forest Park, Illinois. He was the founder of the Harry Spannuth Boiler Company of Oak Park, Illinois.
