Note:   Adolph was confirmed Lutheran in 1878. He emigrated in March 1882, aboard the Westphalia, bound from Hamburg and Havre, landing in New York (passenger list dated 29 Mar 1882), and arriving in York Nebraska in April 1882. He met his wife in 1887. They moved to Heron Lake, Minnesota in 1890, and returned to York County in 1891. They then moved to Valley County near Ord in 1894, living on several farms until March 1901, when they bought the home place in section 8 in Davis Creek, living there until 1918. Then they bought the adjoining farm west and lived there two years. They purchased the northeast quarter of section 28 in Mira Valley in 1920, and added 120 acres in section 23, and farmed there until 1926, whereupon his son Walter and Sophie Bredthauer Fuss moved on the the place. They bought a home in Grand Island where he and his wife spent many years. After his wife died in 1941, he remained in Grand Island for a year or so, then moved back to Valley County and spent his final days with his daughter Frieda and Walter Foth.
