Note:   Executive vice president and member of the board of directors of Valmont Industries. Nebraska District President of the Walther League. Board of directors, Valparaiso University. Philanthropist. He was active in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, including the Lutheran Family Services and the LCMS Foundation. The Dunklau Building, home of Lutheran Family Services in Omaha, is named after Rupert and Ruth Dunklau, whose donation in 1992 helped purchase and renovate the building. The Dunklau Journalism Center and college carillon at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont are also results of his generosity. He founded the Rupert Dunklau Foundation, one of the top charitable foundations in Nebraska. Rupert has received numerous awards and honors including the Crest of Christ Award from Concordia in Seward in 1975, Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from Concordia College in St. Paul MN in 1982, Doctor of Laws Degree from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont NE in 1985, Honorary Alumnus for Valparaiso University in Valparaiso IN in 1986, member of the Society for Collegiate Journalists at Midland Lutheran College, the 2001 Douglas E. Parrott Faith in Action Award by the Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska, Charis Honoree presented by the Grace Place Lutheran Retreats in 2003, the Seeds of Hope Award presented by Wheat Ridge Ministries in 2004, and the Tiemann Award by Beta Sigma Psi in 2004.
