Note:   Ernest. Confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church near Lyons in 1902. He lived with his sister and brother-in-law William Behn in Plumgrove precinct, Pierce County, Nebraska, in 1910. In 1910 he moved to a farm near McLean, Nebraska, where he farmed four years. In 1914 he moved back to Burt County, where he farmed, including 14 years on his last farm northwest of Lyons near Bancroft. He registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 or 1918, claiming an exemption from the draft due to his wife and two children. He had been in failing health for about three years. On 1 June 1937 he went to Colorado, and on 26 June had an operation at Sioux City, which was apparently unsuccessful.
