 Confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church near Lyons in 1912. On 14 Feb 1914 he secured a patent for 640 acres about 30 miles northwest of Alliance Nebraska. Art registered for the draft on 12 Sep 1918. He went to business school. He then worked as a salesman for the A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co., a plumbing supply company, traveling in northeastern Nebraska and southeastern South Dakota for three or four days a week. Their head office was in Sioux City. In 1940 he was a lodger at the John and Kathryn Harris residence in Norfolk. Art and Winona had no children.
