Note:   Paul was confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church near Lyons in 1918. He went to Concordia in St. Paul for prep school and two years of undergraduate school. He completed his A.B. at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1926, receiving his university teachers certificate. He received an A.M. degree there in 1934, thesis topic “Moral and Social Concepts of Typical Nebraska High School Pupils”. He was a superintendent in several schools in South Dakota for about ten years. In 1930 he and his sister Martha were rooming at Dupree, SD. In 1940 he and his wife rented in Scotland, SD. He then worked as a detective for the civil service commission, eventually becoming chief of the northwest district of the US, living in Seattle.
