a. Note:   Samuel Reinert, a sub-foreman on the Reading at Shamrock, will be placed on the retired list of the company on December 1, when he will have reached the age of 70 years. He has worked for the company in various capacities for the past 45 years.

  Samuel Reinert, a retired section foreman on the East Penn, and a Civil War veteran, of Shamrock, while standing with other men at the Reading railway station, was painfully bitten in the leg by a large dog owned by William Reinwalt, proprietor of the Shamrock Hotel. Dr. William F. Long, of Longswamp, dressed the wound. Mr. Reinert is doing as well as can be expected. The dog is now muzzled when at large.

  Samuel Reinert, Civil War veteran and retired employe of the P&R railroad, died at his home in Shamrock on Sunday morning from diabetes, aged 81 years, 4 months and 12 days. He had been ill for the past two months. Mr. Reinert was a native of Long Swamp. During the Civil War, he served with Co. K, Pennsylvania Volunteers. Fourteen years ago he was retired by the Reading on pension. Deceased was twice married, his first wife, Amanda Acker, died fifteen years ago, and his second wife was Pilina Segley, who preceded him in death eight years ago. Two daughters are also deceased. There remains four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Amandus Long, Mertztown; Mrs. Charles Reinert, Topton; Mrs. Anna Gift, Virginsville, and Miss Mancana Reinert, Long Swamp. Fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the Long Swamp Reformed church, where funeral services will be held on Friday morning, following services at his late home at 9.30 o'clock. Revs. Mechstroh and Bond will officiate. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
