Note: He was known as "Uncle Jakie" and also wrote for the Newport newspapers as "Razorback". He was a teacher, Board of Education member, and served in the Tennessee General Assembly from 1931-1933. He was Postmaster of the Cosby Post Office from 1911 to 1914. He also took pride in being known as "The Ugliest Man in the County". Jacob had a store at Liberty, right by the bridge over Cosby Creek. He married rather late in life (over 30) and had his first child at age 36.
