Note: He's a Union Army veteran of the Civil War, in K Company, 11th Tenn Cavalry. He enlisted 20 September, 1863 in Sevierville, TN. He was described as "5 feet 6 inches tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, and a farmer". He was discharge d as a Corporal on 24 March, 1865 in Knoxville, Knox County, TN.
He moved to Anderson County with his father, after the War and before 1870, but very shortly after his marriage was back in Sevier County for the 1870 census (his older sister Amillia was living with them).
In his old age Noah suffered from tuberculosis (contracted during the War) and skin cancer. The skin cancer was severe, causing disfigurement of his face. He was bedridden for several months, and was cared for by his third wife, Matilda.
