a. Note:   o Petersburgh, Rensselaer Co., New York about 1802. Her mother died in 1803 and her father married her younger sister. In 1820 Susan married Russel Saunders and they moved to Verona, Oneida Co., New York, where they farmed. Susan's older sister, Elizabeth, and her husband Isaac Scriven also moved to the Verona area, as did her older brother Daniel and his wife Elizabeth, as did her younger brother Lodowick. Russel and Susan had four children, all boys between 1821 and 1829. Sometime after her husband Russel died in 1834, Susan moved from Verona, Oneida Co., New York to Adams, Jefferson Co., New York where Russel's older brother Isaac and her older sister Esther were living. In May 1842 Esther passed away and in November of that year Susan married Esther's widower, David Maxson, a deacon in the church. Susan's third son, Gardner is documented as marrying in Jefferson Co. in March of 1844 and moving to Wisconsin from Adams Center in the spring of 1846. Susan's youngest son, Alexander, died and was buried in Adams Center in March of 1848. After the death of David Maxson in 1865, Susan moved to live with her oldest son William in Iowa.
