Note: r died in 1834. The family appears to have stayed in Verona. William married Jane E. abt 1839. Their mother moved to Adams, New York and remarried in 1842. His wife Jane died and was buried in Verona, 1846. There is no record of any children from this marriage. William apprears to have remarried in New York prior to 1854. His new wife was Margia P. His brother Alban married in New York abt 1853, had a daughter in 1854. Went with his brother Alban to claim farms in Coffey Co., Kansas in December 1854. Kansas had just been created as a Territory in May of that year. William and Alban selected farms along Long creek and built houses. In February 1855 they returned to Oneida Co., New York to bring their families to their new homes. His 2nd wife Margia died Dec 1858 and was buried on a hill on his Brother Alban's farm. William's brother Alban died in May, 1864 and his wife Mary returned to New York leaving her daughter Jane, age 10, with William and his new wife and new daughter. 1865 census Coffey Co., Kansas, W. R. Saunders age 44, lawyer, born New York. With this entry are a wife, E. A., age 23, born Illinois, and two children, J.E., female, age 11, born New York, and S.L., female, age 2, born Kansas. The 11 year old female, J.E., is Alban's daughter Jane E. In about 1870 his son William was born in Wisconsin. We have not yet learned why or how long William and his family were in Wisconsin William was living in Lewis, Cass Co., Iowa at the time of his mother Susan's death in Jul, 1873. He wrote her obituary to the 'Sabbath Recorder'. Susan had gone to live with William sometime after the death of her second husband, David Maxson in 1865. In about 1875 his daughter Lena was born in Iowa.
