a. Note:   wn, June 29th, 1866, Mr. Daniel J. Peckham, aged 53 years, 11 months, and 4 days. Bro Peckham experienced religion some fifteen months before his death, and united with the 2nd Seventh-day Baptist Church in Westerly. So long as health would permit, he was faithful to meet with his brethren and sisters in worshiping God, and often he testified to the goodness of God in his conversion, and exhorted others to follow Christ. During his lingering sickness, caused by an inward tumor, he bore his pains with Christian fortitude and resignation, and many that now live can witness that he was faithful until death to counsel all to be reconciled to God, and prepare to meet him in the world to come. Bro. Peckham was a man (like many others) who neglected religion during the best of his days, which he often spoke of with regret, warning others not to do in this as he had done. He never doubted his conversion, and always seemed to feel, that whether he lived or died, he was the Lord's. Although dead he yet speaketh. 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, . . . and they rest, and their works do follow them.' H. C.
