Notes
a. Note:   t. 2, 1930.
If all farmers would equip their buildings with alarm devices as G. W. Holliday of Milton has, would-be thieves would not molest them. After having been bothered by thieves several times Mr. Holliday had his buildings wired, and last Friday morning caught a youth whose companion was arrested later in Delavan.
The milk house alarm sounded at 2:45 last Friday morning. Mr. Holliday and his wife hurried out in time to see a man throw off his coat and run through a field. Mr. Holliday ran toward town and found Elmer Wright, 24, of Delavan, sitting in a truck at Harker's corner waiting for his accomplice. Two of Mr. Holliday's chicken crates were on the truck so he held the man while Mrs. Holliday phoned for the sheriff.
Wright refused to disclose the identity of this companion, but William Ziebell, 20 year old town of Milton youth and former employee of Holliday, was arrested in Delavan late Friday afternoon. It was he who had dropped the coat containing the bottles of milk in the morning.
Wright, as instigator of the theft, has been sentenced to spend from one to three years in the reformatory at Green Bay. Ziebell must spend 13 days in the county jail after which he will be under probation to Frank Feagans, county poor relief worker.
