a. Note:   reek in the place of Ezekiel Webb. He appears on record again February 26, 1829, when he signed the marriage bond of George bickerson and Penelope Anderson. He appears on record again the following month when the statement was made of him in chancery records: "... about the year 1819 Peter G. Shehan died, and about two years ago John Coe adventured upon his estate."
  On October 4, 1831, he purchased twenty acres on the west fork of Buffalo Creek in Nelson County from Jesse an Eliza McDonall for $200. Ten days later he took ownership of a 403-acre plantation from Jame Guthrie. In 1835 he purchased an additional 157 acres for $1200 from Anthony Sanders. Two years later he purchased 381/2 acres adjoining Sanders' land from Nathaniel Wickliff for $200. A female over 100 years old appears in his home in the 1840 census. In 1846 he mortgaged his plantation for a $645 debt, which was cleared May 14, 1849. On March 3, 1849, he purchased land in Hardin County, KY, from Jacob Vanmeter. On September 10, 1849, he purchased 320 acres in Hardin County from Marion and Mary Wilson of East Baton Rouge, LA. He employed ten persons on his land;, which in 1850 were valued at $3000. He died November 9, 1852. After his death Armistead Brown sued the heirs and received settlement of 133 acres in Nelson County.
  He married July 2 1831, in Nelson County, KY, Nancy Brown, born 1810 in Kentucky, daughter of John and Anna (Cotton) Brown.
Note:   JOHN5 COE (John4, William3, Richard2, Richard1) was born in 1794,reportedly in Culpeper County, VA. He first appears on record in Nelson County, KY, April 11, 1825, when he was appointed sureyor of the road from James Rogers to west side of Cedar C
