4. Title:   Family Bible
Page:   MCDONOUGH, Martha Elmira (LaFever), Family Bible, The Holy Bible, (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, A.J. Holman Company, 1942), “Family Records, Births, Marriages, Deaths,” privately held by Valerie Butler, Baltimore, Maryland, 2003. Martha was a midwife and a pastor. The marriage and birth dates of David and Elmira (LaFever) McDonough as well as the birth and death dates of children and grandchildren are listed. Some sections appear to be written at one time while others were likely written later as the handwriting changes and gets very shaky. One page describes the bible as being presented to Martha Elmira McDonough by First Pentecostal Church of God. Vinita, Okla 12-25-64, so all dates would have been written on or after this date. There are also scattered instances of someone else’s writing which I believe to be my father’s, Darrell William Butler’s, as I inherited the bible from him. I also wrote his death date in it: “Darrell William Butler passed away 5/6/2003.” I mistakenly wrote my uncle’s name David first and then crossed it out.
