Note: From her obituary in June 2011 (Erma wrote this herself):
Erma was born in Winsor, CO to Mark and Doris Barnes.
She was an accomplished violinist playing in the Oakland Auditorium when she was just 8 years old. In the 7th grade, she was awarded winner of the San Mateo County talent show. Throughout her entire four-year career at Menlo-Atherton High School, she was Concert Mistress of the orchestra. During the 1960's she played violin for the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra. Erma was blessed with the talent of being a gifted artist, specializing in oil painting. In 1979 she married Ernie Hufschmidt. Along with her many talents, she was a member of Millbrae Arts Association, Nature Friends, Pine Ridge Women's Club, Elks Wives Club, Red Hat Society and Women of the Moose.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Doris Barnes as well as grandson Michael Magby.
Erma will be missed by her beloved husband, Ernie Hufschmidt; sister, Myrna McDonald; daughters, Marietta Bellati, Antonette Kistler,Valerie Butler; stepdaughters, Denice Bearly, Lisa Hufschmidt and Trudi Hurley; son-in-laws, Ron Kistler, Shannon Bearly and Darren Hurley; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
