Note: RESEARCH STANDARD APPLIED Researched by Timothy J. Barron, updated December 6, 2020 Michael Mazur is my maternal third great uncle, which is via common ancestry with Joseph Mazur and Magdalena Janasek. Michael was initially identified in the obituary of his sister. Based on the application of recognized genealogical standards of proof, the descent and family structure of Michael Mazur is sufficiently established beyond any reasonable doubt. The basis for the descent of Michael begins with being named in the obituary of his sister Agnes, which identifies multiple surviving siblings. The death record of his sister Michalina identifies their parents as Joseph Mazur and Magdalena Janasek. The basis for the family structure begins with the census records, and is followed by his obituary. This has been subsequently supported with the additional interlocking records and documentation listed further below. From a research perspective, the potential for spelling variations of Polish names need to be recognized, which can result from the effects of language, gender, and grammar. The maiden surname of Martha is listed as Suchomska. It was a common practice for a woman to apply a feminine form to her father’s surname, so her father would have used Suchomski. Marta is a Polish name, and Martha is an English variation. Michał is a Polish name, and Michael is an English variation. 1863 BIRTH OF MICHAEL MAZUR Researched by Timothy J. Barron, updated December 6, 2020 Michael Mazur was born on Tuesday, September 29, 1863, in what would be present day Boruszyn, Lubuskie, Poland. The date of birth was determined from his death record. The specific location is assumed from other records pertaining to his parents and siblings. There is a discrepancy with the 1900 census, which lists April 1964, but September 29, 1863 seems to align with most of the ages listed on other records. 1866 BIRTH OF MARTHA SUCHOMSKA Researched by Timothy J. Barron, updated December 6, 2020 Martha Suchomska was born on May 11, 1866, in what would be present day Poland. There is a discrepancy with the the death record which lists May 11, 1868, the 1900 census which lists March 1866, and the headstone which lists 1866. The 1866 year was assumed to be correct as it seems to align with most of the ages listed on other records. 1886 MARRIAGE OF MICHAEL MAZUR AND MARTHA SUCHOMSKA Researched by Timothy J.
