Notes
a. Note:   RESEARCH STANDARD APPLIED
Researched by Timothy J. Barron, updated May 15, 2021
William Henry Barron and Emily May Jones are my paternal great grandparents. The initial information on the family was included with a photograph of the family provided by my father. It listed my grandfather, Reginald Barron, along with the names, birth dates, and birth locations of all of his siblings and his parents. Emily used the nickname of Emma.
Based on the application of recognized genealogical standards of proof, the descent of William Barron, the descent of Emily Jones, and their family structure have been sufficiently established beyond any reasonable doubt. The basis for the descent of William begins with the census records, which show him living with his parents. The is followed by his marriage and death record,s which list the names of both parents. The basis for the descent of Emily begins with the census records, which show her living with her parents. This is followed by her death record and marriage record, which list the names of both parents. The basis for the family structure begins with the census records and newspaper articles. This has been subsequently supported with the additional interlocking records and documentation listed further below.
Based on the application of recognized standards for DNA evidence, the family structure of William Henry Barron and Emily May Jones has been corroborated with DNA matches between descendants of their children, which are listed further below.

1898 NEWSPAPER ARTICLES ON EMILY MAY BARRON
Researched by Timothy J. Barron, updated May 15, 2021
The following appeared in the Buffalo Courier newspaper from Buffalo, Erie County, New York, USA on Saturday, August 13, 1898. Emily Barron (née Jones) and her mother Margaret “Maggie” Jones are both mentioned in the article. The seven year old son of Margaret would have to be Morris Jones, but the age listed is incorrect, as he was born in 1888. The four year old son of Emily would have to be William Harold Barron, who was born in 1894.
"Up to Date in Slang is Judge King, 'They Make Me Sick with Their Pipe Stories,' He Said. Neighbor's Squabbles. Judge Listened to Stories of Fights Until His Genial Nature Gave Way. Judge King, after he heard the story of the troubles of Mrs. Maggie Jones of No. 178 Sycamore Street, told in the Police Court this morning, wanted to know if Detective Schmidt had found any green pills among her family effects."
"Mrs. Jones' appearance in the Police Court was as complainant against Mrs. Amelia Reinhardt, who lives in the same house. She charged Mrs. Reinhardt with assault in the third degree as the sequel to a case in which both parties were concerned several days ago. At that time Jacob Reinhardt, the husband of Amelia, was arrested on a charge of assaulting the 7 year old son of Mrs. Jones. He was fined $5. Mrs. Reinhardt paid the amount. Subsequent events are best related in Mrs. Jones' language this morning.”
“’After you find this woman's husband $5 the other day, Judge,' said Mrs. Jones, 'she went home and threatened to get revenged. First she tried to chastise my 4 year old son of my daughter, Mrs. Emma Barron. The child's mother heard its screams and ran down stairs. Mrs. Reinhardt kicked her int he stomach. I came down stairs and Mrs. Reinhardt said to me: 'You made my husband pay $5 in the Police Court and I'll make you pay more than that before I get through.' She struck me on the head with a big wash tub and was raising it to strike me a second them when Andrew Jones, my crippled son, appeared on the scene. He saved my life. A few minutes later, while my husband and myself were at dinner, she returned and destroyed the screen door on the rear of Mrs. Barron's house. Mrs. Barron, my daughter, then swore out a warrant for her arrest and when she heard about it she told the neighbors and my son George was set upon by a crowd and beaten. Andrew, the cripple, arrived in time to save his brother, but a policeman of the Sycamore Street Station saw the trouble and not understanding the circumstances he arrested my boys on charges of disorderly conduct while the scoundrels escaped. My boys were let go on suspended sentence this morning.’”
“Neighbors testified that Mrs. Barron renewed the fight by throwing water on the Reinhardt children. 'These families give me more trouble than all the others in the precinct,' said Special Schmidt. 'And they make me sick with their pipe stories,' said Judge King. 'Mrs. Jones, I ought to find you for making this complaint. Mrs. Reinhardt, you're discharged.’”
The folioing appeared in the Buffalo Commercial newspaper from Buffalo, Erie County, New York, USA on Saturday, August 13, 1898.
"Lots of trouble. More friction between some Sycamore Street families. Judge King dismissed the case. Mrs. Amelia Reinhardt was arranged in the police court this morning on a charge of assault, third degree, and was discharged. This is a sequel to the case in which Jacob Reinhardt of 178 Sycamore street was fine $5 by Judge King on Thursday. Reinhardt was fined for assaulting the seven year old son of Mrs. Jones, who lives in the same house. Mrs. Reinhardt secured money enough to pay her husband's fine. Mrs. Jones give the following version of subsequent proceedings: 'Immediately after her husband was fined by Mrs. Reinhardt went home and attempted to chastise the four year old daughter of Mrs. Emma Barron, who is my daughter. The child's mother was up stairs and when she heard her child crying she came down and told Mrs. Reinhardt to stop whipping the child. Then Mrs. Reinhardt kicked Mrs. Barron in the stomach. I came down stairs and Mrs. Reinhardt said: 'You made my husband pay $5 in police court, but I'll make you pay more than that before you get through.' With that Mrs. Reinhardt raised a large washout and struck me with it. She attempted to strike me a second time but Andrew Jones, my son, a crippled, appeared on the scene and just as she had the tub in a position to strike me a second time he made her drop it. Mrs. Reinhardt went away, but returned in a few minutes and destroyed a screen door at the rear of Mrs. Barron's house. Mrs. Barron went before Judge King yesterday and swore out a warrant for Mrs. Reinhardt. When Mrs. Reinhardt heard about this she told some of her neighbors and last night my eldest son, George, was set upon by George Hare and two other fellows while he was returning home from work. My son says that he did not start the fight and that when he was getting the worst of it his crippled brother came on the scene. A policeman came along and as he did not understand the real circumstances in the case he arrested my two sons. The were locked up at the station house on Sycamore street but the justice this morning suspended sentence on them.' In a police court this morning several people swore that Mrs. Barron started the quarrel by throwing water on Mrs. Reinhardt's children, but she denied this. Detective Schmidt told Judge King that the Jones and Barron families caused him more trouble than any others in the precinct and the judge decided to discharge Mrs. Reinhardt."
The following appeared in the Buffalo Times newspaper from Buffalo, Erie County, New York, USA on Sunday, August 14, 1898. This article lists a four year granddaughter of Margaret Jones, but this appears to be be a typographical error, based on the above article, and the fact that Emily had only had a one year old daughter at this time.
"Made Rough House. Reinhardt and Joneses Had a Hot Time in Sycamore Street. Mrs. Amelia Reinhardt, No. 115 Sycamore Street, arrested for attacking the 4 year old granddaughter of Mrs. Margaret Jones, a neighbor of her, was discharged by Judge King yesterday. Only two days ago the same case was aired in Police Court and all hands were ordered from the court room. When the people got home, Mrs. Jones alleges that there was a general attack by the Reinhardt faction. In the scrimmage, Mrs. Jones says that she was kicked in the stomach. A lame son of Mrs. Jones used his crutch and water was thrown. Judge King discharged the prisoner."
The following appeared in the Buffalo Morning Express newspaper from Buffalo, Erie County, New York, USA on Sunday, August 14, 1898.
"His honor used slang. Justice King declares he cannot fathom the 'pipe stories' of quarreling families. The Reinhardt and Barron families, who live in a tenement at No. 178 Sycamore Street, aired a few of their troubles in the Police Court yesterday. The might be airing them yet had not Justice King shut them off. The two families have been at odds ever since they knew each other. They have had one another arrested innumerable times for assault. Mrs. Barron claimed that Mrs. Reinhardt assaulted her with a wash tub. Justice King few so impatient with the tales of the women that he said: 'These are pipe stories, if that's what you call them, are by me. Get out of here everyone of you. I'll fine nobody. I ought to fine everyone of you.'"
