Notes
a. Note:   RESEARCH STANDARD APPLIED
Researched by Timothy J. Barron, updated December 16, 2020
Andrew Elkins is my maternal third great uncle, which is via common ancestry with Jeremiah E. Elkins and Esther Richmond. Andrew was initially identified in the book "Genealogy of Hollon and Related Families: Early Settlers of Eastern Kentucky and their Descendants,” which was written by Clay Hollon, and was published in 1958. Clay was the nephew of Andrew.
Based on the application of recognized genealogical standards of proof, the descent of Andrew Elkins is sufficiently established beyond any reasonable doubt. The basis begins with the the census records, which show him living with his parents. No further information has been identified about Andrew, such as whether he married, and obviously, there are multiple men with this name living in the same era.
