Louisa was initially identified in the book Hollon and Related Families, published in 1958 by Clay Hollon. Page 51 lists Louisa as a daughter of Jeremiah Elkins and Esther Richmond. The page lists the following information: “Louisa C., born Ky. 1862, died 1927, married John Weden Congleton.” Page 58 lists the following information: “Louisa C. Elkins (eleventh child of Jeremiah and Esther) born Sept. 18, 1861, died Apr. 8, 1927, married Dec. 23, 1883 John Weden Congleton, born Dec. 23, 1861, died Dec. 7, 1938; had five children: (1) Beulah Adeline, born Aug. 25, 1887; (2) Nora Esther, born June 16, 1889; (3) William Emory, born Feb. 10, 1892; (4) Porter Lee, born Apr. 15, 1896; (5) Vernon Elkins, born Apr. 19, 1906.” The information has been subsequently supported via the records and documentation listed below. 1870 CENSUS OF LOUISA ELKINS • Researched by Timothy J. Barron, updated September 3, 2017 The U.S. Census enumerated on June 4, 1880 shows Louisa living with her parents in Wolfe County, Kentucky. The following information was transcribed from the actual document: “Louisa Elkins, white, female, age 17, sister, single, occupation: house keeper, attended school, born in Kentucky, father born in Virginia, mother born in Virginia.”
