  According to "Nienhaus Family History and Genealogy," Anna's January 24, 1882 death is recorded with the Register of Deeds Office, Brown County, Green Bay, Wisconsin, Volume 4, page 106, and the record also shows her mother's name as Mary. Anna died in childbirth, and she is buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, East Wrightstown, Brown County, Wisconsin (according to an undated, circa 1975, letter from Father O'Brien from St. Mary's Church in Greenleaf, Brown County, Wisconson). The death record lists Anna as being born in Wisconsin, while the 1880 census shows her being born in Illinois. When Anna died, Theodore married her sister, Elizabeth. Anna and Elizabeth's sister, Mary, married Theodore's brother, William.

  According to "Nienhaus Family History and Genealogy," Theodore's May 08, 1939 death is recorded with the Register of Deeds Office, Rusk County, Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Volume 12, page 116, and the record also gives his birth date.
  Theodore's obituary appeared in the "Ladysmith News," from Ladysmith, Rusk County, Wisconsin on May 12, 1939: "Theodore Newhouse, highly respected Rusk county citizen for the last 41 years, died at his home on East Lake avenue early on Monday morning, his death coming as the result of a short illness and the infirmities of old age. Deceased was 92 years of age at the time of his passing. Mr. Newhouse was born in Milwaukee October 17, 1847, where he grew to young manhood and then took up farming in Brown county. In 1877 he was married to Barbara Leonhard, who died five years later. In 1894 he was married the second time to Elizabeth Leonhard. The family moved to a farm near Loyal, where they resided until 1898, at which time they moved to Tony, and in 1926 Mr. Newhouse moved to Ladysmith, where he resided until the time of his death. Surviving relatives are the widow and three daughters, Mrs. Herman Decker and Mrs. Howard Merrill, and Mrs. Oscar Johnson; and seven sons, John of Tony, Frank and Barney, Peter, Grayslake, Ill., Edward, Marathon City, Joe, Antigo, and Harry, of Parker's Prairie, Minn. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services, in charge of the McElravy funeral home, were conducted at the family residence Wednesday with internment in the Tony cemetery."

  Elizabeth lived with her daughter, Katherine Merrill, in her later years until her death. Elizabeth's December 20, 1952 death is recorded with the Register of Deeds Office, Rusk County, Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Volume 8, page 344, and the death record gives her birth date.
  Elizabeth's obituary appeared in the "Ladysmith News" from Ladysmith, Rusk County, Wisconsin: "Death Claims Pioneer Lady, Mrs. Elizabeth Newhouse Stricken at Age 87. Mrs. Elizabeth Newhouse of 522 Fitz Ave. West, died at St. Mary's hospital Saturday after a six-months' illness with the infirmities of old age. She was 87. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 9 a.m., from the McElravy funeral home to Our Lady of Sorrows church at Ladysmith. Father Scheltinga was the officiating pastor and burial was made in the Tony Catholic cemetary. Mrs. Newhouse was one of Rusk county's earliest settlers, having come here in 1897. Elizabeth Leonhard was born at East Wrightstown Feb. 13, 1865. Her marriage to Theodore Newhouse took place in that community July 25, 1882. They moved to Loyal in 1893, and four years later came to Tony. In 1928 they came to Ladysmith, which has since been the family home. Mr. Newhouse preceded his wife in death May 8, 1939. Mrs. Newhouse was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows church and belonged to the Altar society. Surviving are six sons, Frank, Cornell; Barney, Ladysmith; Ed, Harry, Parker Prairie, Minn.; Joe, Rhinelander and Peter, Grayslake, Ill.; three daughters, Mary Johnson, Port Hurnon, Mich.; Anne Decker and Katherine Merrill, both of Ladysmith and a sister, Theresa Nies of Wrightston."
