  Mathias is my second great grand uncle. Mathias was initially identified by Carol Prestin (née Duffrin). It should be noted that Mathias had an uncle, also named Mathias Duffrin, who also lived in the same area and died August 14, 1892. The information has been subsequently supported via the records and documentation listed below.
  1860 CENSUS OF MATHIAS DUFFRIN

  The U.S. Census enumerated on July 18, 1860 shows Mathias living with his parents in Addison, Washington County, Wisconsin, and family surname is misspelled. The following information was transcribed from the actual document: "Mathias Dufferane, age 5, male, white, born in Wisconsin.”
  1870 CENSUS OF MATHIAS DUFFRIN

  The Wisconsin, Deaths, 1820-1907 lists the following record: "Name: Mathias Duffrin; Death Date: 17 Mar 1892; Death Place: Washington, Wisconsin, USA; Volume: 01; Page Number: 0272; Reel: 132; Image: 2932; Sequence Number: 089335."
  The following appeared in the Racine Journal newspaper from Racine, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, March 23, 1892: "Mathias Dufferin, of Allerton, Washington County, was killed while digging a well, by the sides caving in upon him."
  The Find a Grave Index lists the following record: “Name: Mathias Duffrin; Birth Date: 1 Nov 1854; Birth Place: Saint Lawrence, Washington County, Wisconsin, United States of America; Death Date: 17 Mar 1892; Death Place: Addison, Washington County, Wisconsin, United States of America; Cemetery: Saint Anthony's Catholic Cemetery; Burial or Cremation Place: Saint Anthony, Washington County, Wisconsin, United States of America; Father: Johann Duffrin; Mother: Mary Anna Schlagenhaft."
