Jones and Margaret Long. Morris was initially identified by Jean Lebal (née Barron). The following appeared in the Buffalo Enquirer newspaper from Buffalo, Erie County, New York, USA, on Friday, October 6, 1922: "Tells Neighbor, Then Goes Home, Kills Self, Had Been Despondent. Morris Jones, third four years old, No. 81 Demond place, said to have been despondent, shot himself last night. He is at the Buffalo General Hospital. His condition is serious. About five minutes before the man shot himself he told a neighbor he 'was going to end it all.' Michael Grobe, No. 90 Demond place, stated that he had been talking to Jones on the street a few moments before the shooting occurred. According to Grober, Jones, who is a chauffeur for the M.A. Reeb corporation, told him he had been in a an accident earlier in the day and was in a despondent mood, declaring that 'luck was always against him,' and that he was going to 'end it all.'" The following appeared in the Buffalo Express newspaper from Buffalo, Erie County, New York, USA, on Saturday Morning, October 7, 1922, page four: "His wound fatal, Jones dies in hospital, medical examiner says it's suicide. Morris Jones, 34 years old. of No. 81 Demond place died early this morning in the General hospital of wounds received when he shot himself in the right side in the vestibule of his home on Friday night. Jones, who was employed as a driver for the M. A. Reeb company, called upon a neighbor, Michael Gruber of No. 91 Demond place early on Thursday night and said that he was going to end it all. Gruber said that while his friend acted despondent he gave little thought to the matter except to say, ‘Don't be foolish.’ A short time later Gruber received word that Jones had shot himself. Medical Examiner Long issued a certificate of death by suicide."
