The following appeared in the Royal Cornwall Gazette newspaper from Cornwall, England, on Thursday, May 14, 1903. “On Wednesday week the marriage was solemnised, at St. Stephen's, Lewisham, of the Rev. H. E. Bamforth (son of the late Rev. John Bamforth, chaplain to the forces in India, and formerly curate of St. Mark's, Lewisham, but now appointed in charge of the district of Queens, St. Columb), with Miss E. I. E. Butterfield, youngest daughter of the late Rev. George B. B. Butterfield and Mrs. Butterfield, of 18, Belmont hill, Lee.” “The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. E. Hutton, chaplain of St. Margaret's, East Grinstead, assisted by the Rev. J. C. Morris, of St. Mark's, Lewisham, and the Rev. J. A. Douglas, St. Stephen's. The bride, who was given away by her cousin (Mr. W. Hales, of Croydon), was gowned in white Japanese silk, and wore sprays of real orange blossom and a veil of old lace. George Bancroft Buckley Butterfield and Emily Harrison, and lists the following information: "Ellen Joanna Elizabeth Butterfield (third child of Rev. George and Emily) married Rev. Herbert Elliott Bamforth (son of Rev. J. Bamforth, Indian Chaplain and Chaplain of the Forces). They were married at St. Stephen's, Lewisham, by the Rev. R. E. Hutton. They had one child, Cuthbert."
